The five members of Charleston’s Sol Driven Train, who play more than a 150 shows a year, is now garnering major national and regional love. Relix magazine gave them a shout out in January, and the band’s practically been living on WNCW, where their album, Believe, placed No. 22 in the Top 100 CDs of 2010. They’ve shared bills with everyone from Keller Williams and Arlo Guthrie to Blueground Undergrass and Blues Traveler. Most recently, they released an acclaimed EP, Watermelon and a live DVD, and they’re working on a CD due this year. SDT rollicks with “Allmanesque Southern rock, languid world beat, swampy funk and downright catchy melodies as they swap lead singers and instruments. A punchy horn section adds an extra dimension of sweaty soul to the genre-blurring jam party” (Atlanta Creative Loafing). Sounds like a big ol’ hot mess o’ fun.
